Brain Development and Quiz

I am sure we have all heard that music activity has an integrative effect on the brain. It causes brain development that benefits the whole person. Because music activity helps both sides of the brain, let's do an experiment and see whether your left-side or right-side of your brain is dominant. Click on the link and do this short brain test. This will open a new tab with a different website. Make sure you click back to this tab when you have finished the brain test.

  • If your left-side is dominant then this means you have an understanding of music theory. If this is you, then you have a serious edge. You'll be ahead of the curve because you will be able to speak the language of music. You'll have the right vocabulary, and mental capacity to "think" like a great musician.
  • If your right-side is dominant then you can "feel" like a great musician. This means you can perform artistically and "read" the music emotionally more easily. Contrary to popular belief, people are not born with a great ear. Sure, there are some who have more raw talent, but all must be developed and trained.

Combine these skills (creative, ear and theory) and you will be well on your way to being a great musician!
